Embley is a warm and welcoming independent day and boarding school for girls and boys up to the age of 18.

Nestled in 130 acres of stunning English private parkland on the edge of the New Forest National Park, students feel inspired to learn in our beautiful grounds which includes woodlands, playing fields, tennis courts, all-weather sports pitches, a swimming pool, a golf course and so much more.

With a dynamic Prep and Senior School and Sixth Form, together with a friendly and thriving boarding community, we attract both UK and international students. Our pupils settle quickly into school life and benefit from high standards of education in a happy, inclusive and supportive environment.

Class sizes are small and lessons are taught at a lively pace using a range of teaching methods and styles. Modern resources and highly experienced teachers mean that pupils have a positive introduction to English schooling at Embley. The academic programme is complemented by a diverse range of co-curricular activities, including music, drama and art as well as sporting opportunities such as sailing, golf, rugby, badminton and hockey.

After School and Weekend Activities

Through clubs, societies, sport and team games, cultural trips and residential opportunities, Embley offers a safe environment for delivering a rich, well-rounded and diverse education. Most clubs feature mixed age groups and, importantly, encourage students to build self-confidence get to know one another and staff. Because the school is surrounded by areas steeped in history and academic interest, there are lots of opportunities to take part in a wide range of cultural excursions and events. Be it a tour around Winchester, England’s ancient capital and former seat of King Alfred the Great; an adventure in the New Forest by bike; a fun day on the beach; or a trip to Southampton to shop in one of the UK’s top 10 retail destinations, the school is surrounded by the perfect blend of city, coast and country.

Location

The school is conveniently located just outside the small market town of Romsey in Hampshire and close to the New Forest National Park. The historic and vibrant cities of Salisbury, Winchester and Southampton are close by. The school is situated within an hour’s drive of London (Heathrow) airport and Southampton International Airport can be reached in under 30 minutes. Local railway stations such as Southampton and Winchester are approximately 30 minutes away and offer direct links to central London.
